Our Historic Churches
St Mary The Virgin, Benfleet
Grade I listed, dating to the 12th Century. Tradition says the foundation stone was laid 894AD
St James the Less Church, Hadleigh
Grade I listed, Saxon and Norman origins with chancel and nave dating to 12th Century
St Peter's Church, Thundersley
Grade II* listed. Original building dedicated to St Michael in 1120 but burnt down in 1215.
New chancel built and dedicated to St Peter on 23rd June 1230.
Holy Trinity Church, Rayleigh
Grade II* listed, Saxon and Norman origins, with a Victorian porch
